HAIL TO THEE

Hail to thee we sing together
Hail to Reagan High.
Strong in strength of truest honor,
Thee we glorify!
Bravely meeting every challenge
With a lusty cry.
Keep us loyal, lead us onward!
Hail to Reagan High.

Reagan days are swiftly fleeting,
Soon we'll leave these halls.
Ne'er to join another meeting,
'Neath these hallowed walls!
Lift the chorus, speed it onward
Loud our praises cry,
Hail to thee, our Alma Mater,
Hail to Reagan High!

WHAT USED TO BE - NO LONGER IS

What used to be - no longer is
as we think back when we were kids.
The rock and roll we listed to;
we cruised the Pig Stand after school.

The sporting games, the Red Coats' drills;
the cheers we hear that gave us thrills.
The high school years that we once shared;

for Reagan High we truly cared.

We learned some lessons through these years
to face the trials, and also fears;
for what was learned was to become
our guiding steps away from home.

We've glanced back at our Pennant book
of '64; we viewed the looks

of all the candid faces placed,
and visioned every youthful face.

But in the midst of these school years
were many swollen eyes from tears;
a coupled theme was sent this day
upon the 29th of May.

Not only was this day to be
the date upon diplomas seen,
but also is the birthday of
a President we grew to love.

Oh, JFK, remembered well
each time we heard that high school bell;
but when the news was to be heard,
can you recall just where you were?

The three short years that we did spend
while traveling down her halls again.
We learned the elemental truths
that capped the ending of our youth.

But remembered most, our senior year;
the preparation, visions clear.
Diploma time; the last school day;

we must depart; we cannot stay.

but must partake in progress new.
(What did life have in store for you?)

To college or employment take
or country served; what was your fate?

To wed that one you've waited for;
to raise your children you adore.
Together still (?) to be admired
if there's distress, call on "Doubtfire"!

Now, at our age it just might be
that grandkids number one to three,
or even more may surely roam
around these places we call home.

Well, here's the end of rhyming time;
hope you've enjoyed this poem of mine.
This is my "Thirty Year Salute"
while reminiscing 'pon our youth.
